Palestinian and Iranian officials touted the importance of "resistance" against Israel as the leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine traveled to Tehran on Sunday.
"Today the resistance groups and freedom seekers should be ready more than any other time before," state Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) quoted Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as saying. "The only way to disrupt the enemy’s plots is continuing to resistance (sic).”
Ahmadinejad also stated that Israel is a colonialist state and a symbol of the United States in the Muslim Middle East.
Ahmad Jibril, leader of the PFLP, praised Iran for its Islamic revolution and touted the bonds between the Palestinian and Iranian nations. "Iran is the Palestinian nation's strategic hope," Iran's semi-official FARS news agency quoted him as saying.
According to IRNA, Jibril presented the Iranian president with a report on the situation in the Middle East.
