J. C. Smith brings the blues to the Holy Land

The American vocalist and guitarist will give performances in Tel Aviv, Eilat and Jerusalem.

American blues guitarist and vocalist J.C. Smith will be performing at various Mike’s Place locations around the country from today through December 17.
Prior to playing guitar, Smith spent the ’90s back behind the drums, first with the Tough City Band, then with popular Bay Area outfit Back to Blues Band. Since the J.C. Smith Band formed in 2001, with Smith on lead guitar, he’s performed with notable artist such as B.B.
King, Buddy Guy, Buddy Miles and Pinetop Perkins.
Usually sporting a shiny three-piece suit with animal- skin loafers, Smith was named “best-dressed bluesman” at the 2003 West Coast Blues Hall of Fame Awards in Oakland.
Smith’s 2009 release, Defining Cool, was listed for the 52nd Grammy Awards for “Best Contemporary Blues CD.”
According to his website, Smith’s goal in life is “to keep the blues alive and take the message to the people.”
Smith will be performing tonight at Mike’s Place Jerusalem, December 16 at Mike’s Place Eilat and December 17 at Mike’s Place Tel Aviv Tayelet. All shows start
