Education Ministry launches 'Transparency in Education' site

The site crashed soon after its launch, thanks to heavy traffic.

Ahead of the new school year, the Education Ministry launched its “Transparency in Education” website on Tuesday. This site offers both general and specific information that can be viewed on a national or local level.

“For the first time ever, we’re in a transparency revolution,” Education Minister Naftali Bennett said.

“We publish all the data on high schools in Israel: percentages of enlistment to the IDF, school climate, quality of matriculation certificates, dropout level and more. The parents of Israel will be able to see, investigate and understand everything that is needed about the schools. I invite the public to a site of transparency in education.”

The site launched on Tuesday morning and within hours, it crashed due to heavy traffic.

On the home page, general data shown includes the total number of institutions (4,752 schools and 18,973 pre-schools), students (1.69 million in school and 491,225 in pre-schools), teaching staff (140,571 in schools and 16,954 in pre-schools), number of classrooms (66,152 in schools and 18,940 in pre-schools), average classroom size (25.6 in schools, 25.9 in preschools) and the amount it costs to teach one student (NIS 18,520 in schools and NIS 14,050 in preschools).

Details on the education budget, which is currently at NIS 44.18 billion, and where it’s going, is also available for to the public.
