Meretz chair Yossi Beilin called on Saturday for Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to fire newly-appointed Deputy Prime Minister Avigdor Lieberman, saying that Olmert would have to "take responsibility" for Lieberman's "insane" statements. Olmert could not brush off Lieberman's extreme remarks, Beilin added, after Lieberman gave an interview to Israel Radio in which he called Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas "ineffective" and urged Israel to "ignore" him.
