Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi will recommend to appoint Brig.-Gen. Guy Zur to commander of the Ze'elim training base in southern Israel on Tuesday. In the past, Defense Minister Amir Peretz had refused to approve the appointment due to harsh criticism of Zur's performance as commander of Division 162 during the Second Lebanon War. However, after the labor party primaries, the defense minister will be changed and the appointment will come up for approval.
