Car crashes, road deaths increase since June '05

The Central Bureau of Statistics revealed on Tuesday that the number of traffic accidents has risen since June 2005, despite the decrease that was seen in the previous 15 months. In January 2006, 36 people were killed and 166 seriously injured. Israel Police recorded 1,571 accidents during that time involving injuries or deaths. Between June 2005 and January 2006, the numbers of traffic accidents increased at a rate of 0.5% per month. The number of casualties increased by 0.3% per month during that time.
