Vice Premier Shimon Peres said Friday that he acted according to law in relation to receiving donations before the Labor Party primaries. State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss is investigating the propriety of three large donations to Peres while he was still in the Labor Party. The donations, totaling $320,000 were received one month before the party primary, which Peres lost. Peres allegedly received donations from Haim Saban and Bruce Rappaport, who gave him $100,000 each, and Daniel Abraham, who gave him $120,000. "I didn't do anything without the proper legal consultation. I acted lawfully with total transparency," Peres told Army Radio. Lindenstrauss is due to publish a report next week on campaign funding during the primary elections for those parties that held primaries to choose their leaders or their slate of Knesset candidates.
