The Tel Aviv Magistrate Court released renowned director and actor Assi Dayan to house arrest at the 101 Diner in the South on Wednesday after he was accused by his girlfriend of assault last month. Dayan has been detained since his arrest several weeks ago. Dayan will stay in the famous rest stop on the road leading to Eilat under supervision. His brother, Ehud Dayan, agreed to move into the 101 Diner with Assi. He said he was aware of the fact that his brother was using Ritalin. Ehud Dayan also agreed to sign his brother's bail. The court hearing on Wednesday was attended by Dayan, his mother Ruth, his brother Ehud and the owner of the 101 Diner Shimon "Kushi" Rimon. Rimon also pledged to the court that he would watch over Dayan. He said he and the defendant were good friends and he had space to accommodate Dayan. In a related lawsuit, the woman who sued Dayan on charges of assault also filed a lawsuit against Ruth Dayan, his mother, who had called her a "snitch who clings on to Assi." She demanded NIS 50,000 from Ruth as compensation for defaming her good name.
