Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni is scheduled to meet with Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas in New York on Monday.
Livni will demand the speeding up of efforts to bring about the release of kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit. She will also urge that the Palestinian Authority's unity government recognize the principles set down by the Quartet -the US, Russia, UN and EU - for the Middle East "road map."
Livni told CNN on Sunday that "the world has only few months to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons."
The foreign minister and Abbas will also meet with US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice.
