Schools in the Haifa area were closed Wednesday as the Secondary School Teachers' Union continued its strike in protest of delays in reaching a new salary agreement with the Finance Ministry. Classes were also canceled at 36 colleges throughout the country. Representatives from the teachers' camp were expected to convene an emergency meeting on Wednesday afternoon to discuss whether to accept the demands of the Finance Ministry to end the sanctions on schools and renew negotiations.
