Haredi protesters demonstrated peacefully in Jerusalem Saturday evening against the opening of the Carta parking lot on Shabbat. Police said no violent incidents had been reported, in contrast to similar events in past weeks. Leaders of the Eda Haredit had called on protesters in recent days to refrain from hurting policemen and civilians as part of their demonstrations. They also ruled that young yeshiva students would be barred from protesting, as their fervor often contributed to the fomenting of violence.
