Former National Religious Party chairman MK Effi Eitam was injured by a horse on Wednesday morning during the evacuation of Amona. Violence broke out in the outpost, as thousands of settlers and supporters tried to prevent the clearing of nine permanent structures constructed at the illegal outpost. Settlers said their protest was "an attempt to clear the shame of [the evacuation of] Gush Katif."
