A 31-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her husband who then committed suicide in Petah Tikva early on Thursday.

The murder victim, Masletch Anargaya, died of multiple stab wounds caused by her 43-year-old husband Avi, police said. The couple had immigrated to Israel from Ethiopia in 2007. Police had no prior records of domestic violence incidents on the couple.

Neighbors called police to the apartment after hearing loud shouting.

Officers discovered the woman as she took her last breaths in the living room, and Magen David Adom paramedics attempted to stem massive blood loss. But Anargaya was declared dead by doctors on arrival to the Beilinson Medical Center in Petah Tikva.

Meanwhile, officers found her husband hanging from the balcony, but paramedics’ attempts to resuscitate him proved unsuccessful.

The couple did not have any children.

In an unrelated incident of violence, two cousins were shot dead in a drive-by shooting attack at the entrance to the Arab village of A’ablin in the Galilee.

Fars and Salam Muhsein, both in their 30s, were on their way to a supermarket in nearby Kibbutz Yagur when they were shot dead, police said.

Police have launched a double homicide investigation, but have not named a possible motive for the shooting at this stage. The two men have neither criminal records nor a history of violence.
