Musharraf to Jewish leader: I may recognize Israel

Pakistan's president told a visiting American Jewish leader that his country would consider formally recognizing Israel, but only after the creation of an independent Palestinian state, his spokesman said Saturday. President Gen. Pervez Musharraf made his remarks at a meeting with Jack Rosen, chairman of the Council of World Jewry, during a meeting near the Pakistani capital Islamabad on Thursday, said Gen. Shaukat Sultan, chief spokesman for the president.
