Opposition leader Binyamin Netanyahu said Sunday morning that he opposed an IDF ground operation in the Gaza Strip at this stage, but stressed that Israel should surround Gaza and increase the political and economic sanctions on Hamas. Netanyahu told Israel Radio that Israel's unilateral withdrawals from Lebanon and the Gaza Strip had given radical Islamist groups bases from which to fire missiles at Israel. If Israel were to withdraw from the West Bank, Netanyahu warned, there would be similar results.
