Over a million Israelis visited Jewish National Fund forests during Independence Day, the organization reported. In all, despite tens of thousands of barbecues thought to have been held, and strong winds predicted across the entire country, only three small fires were discovered and extinguished by JNF firefighters. Over 800 tons of garbage were estimated to have been produced, with the last of the refuse expected to be cleared by Wednesday evening, the JNF said.
