Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Ehud Olmert began talks Friday in Jerusalem as part of efforts to work out a joint statement ahead of the US-sponsored conference this fall. The two were trying over lunch to iron out hurdles that have arisen in talks between the sides in recent days, Palestinian spokesman Nabil Abu Rdeneh said. Olmert and Abbas were joined by Foreign Minster Tzipi Livni and head of the Palestinian negotiating team Ahmed Qurei [Abu Ala.]
