Deputy Prime Minister Shimon Peres visited the home of kidnapped soldier Ehud Goldwasser on Monday. Peres said that "Lebanese Foreign Minister [Fawzi] Salloukh's statement proves that responsibility for the welfare of the kidnapped soldiers rests on the Lebanese government," and that the information Israel had indicated that the three soldiers were still alive. The Lebanese government announced Sunday night its terms for signing a cease-fire agreement, which included Israel's retreat from the Shebaa farms area near Beirut. The Lebanese said that if the conditions were fulfilled, it would be possible to discuss the release of the kidnapped soldiers. Salloukh announced on Sunday that the two kidnapped soldiers were in good condtion. "It's worth Israel's while to halt their fire, and then we can negotiate releasing [prisoners]," he said.
