Vice-Premier Shimon Peres said Sunday morning that talking with the Arab League about the Saudi peace initiative was currently impossible because many members of the league do not recognize Israel. "When the Arab League announces they recognize Israel, then the situation will be different," Peres said in an interview with Israel Radio. Peres emphasized that there existed alternatives to negotiations, and that the coming period will be dedicated to searching for contacts between Israel and the Arab world.
