President Shimon Peres decided to withdraw his candidacy for the Ben Gurion Association, Monday. The request met with objection among Knesset members and the public, and the High Court of Justice even received several petitions that said the president should not be allowed to head non government organizations (NGOs) to prevent conflict of interest. Following the heated responses Peres decided to eschew completely the idea of heading the association.
