The security establishment recommended on Thursday that Defense Minister Amir Peretz ease restrictions on the Palestinians, including opening checkpoints and the Karni goods crossing between the Gaza Strip and Israel. Peretz accepted the recommendation, but would convene another meeting on Wednesday before making the final decision. He said he would approve the measures only if the security status would permit it.
