The Israel Police on Thursday launched an investigation into the disappearance of 80-year-old Tel Aviv resident Michael Minkalvich, who failed to return to Israel after sailing off two weeks ago on a five-day Mano cruise from Haifa to Rhodes via Cyprus. The man's son informed police of his father's disappearance on Thursday morning. Police suspect that the man fell overboard from the Royal Iris cruise ship. Israel appealed to Interpol, as well as to Greek and Cypriot authorities, to assist with the investigation.
