Police recommend Ya'akov Edri stand trial

Police have recommended that Immigration Absorption Minister Ya'akov Edri (Kadima) stand trial on suspicions of requesting favors from a Rabbinate worker who was later charged with bribery offenses. The worker had asked Edri to help bring about the promotion of an unnamed police officer. The suspicions, announced to the press on Wednesday evening, refer to Edri's tenure as deputy public security minister. Edri said that the suspicions were unfounded, but committed to resign if charges were indeed brought against him.
