Proposal backs cutting ex-presidents', PMs' perks

The Knesset Finance Committee on Wednesday was to begin discussions of a new initiative aimed at significantly reducing the benefits provided to former presidents and prime ministers. According to the proposal, the retired statesmen will retain a state-sponsored apartment, office, car and driver for only several years, instead of their entire lives as they have had thus far. Retiring MK, Avraham Shochat denied that there was any intention to harm current leaders
