The Nazareth Magistrate's Court extended the remand of the 22-year-old woman who was allegedly Adwan Yihya Farhan's accomplice in two of the four murders of which he is accused, her lawyer, Issam Tannous, said Wednesday. At Tannous's request, the court agreed to perform a psychiatric evaluation on the woman. He told The Jerusalem Post that it would take place in about 10 days. According to Tannous, his client has been in jail since April 28, after letting the police know that she was involved in the murder of 18-year-old Dana Bennet. She had confided in a friend who, at her request, went to the police to tell them that Farhan had killed Bennet and that she had been his accomplice. She did this because after keeping the killing a secret for six years, "she couldn't stand it any more," Tannous said. Furthermore, she understood that Farhan was about to be released from jail and was afraid of what he might do to her. "She was afraid because of his warnings that she had better not tell anything, say anything or do anything - otherwise he would do this and that to her," Tannous said in an interview with Israel Radio after the brief court hearing on Wednesday morning. In another interview, the lawyer said Farhan's "domination of her led to a situation in which in both murders, he was the perpetrator and planner and she happened to be there." The media is prohibited from publishing the woman's name, because she was a minor at the time of Bennet's killing on August 1, 2003.
