Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's new party was officially approved by the registrar under the name Kadima at 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning in Jerusalem. The party was officially founded by 144 members headed by Sharon. 16 MKs agreed to join the new party, including five former Likud ministers and former Labor minister Haim Ramon. Sharon's son, Omri, reportedly was not registered as a party founder. The new faction was scheduled to meet on Thursday to retroactively approve the name given to the party. The slogan "Sharon, a strong leader for peace," was already chosen.
