Students demonstrate against 2006 gov't budget

Over 150 members of the Tel Aviv University Student Union and the Organization of Students in Israel demonmstrated on Wednesday at the Knesset against the approval of the first reading of the 2006 government budget, which called "anti-social." Among their chiefs concerns were the lack of any increase in the higher education budget and the absence of any reference to the conclusions of the Winograd Committee, which supported the gradual decrease of academic tuition.
