The Knesset Ethics Committee decided on Tuesday not to punish Israel Beiteinu MK Estherina Tartman for saying in a January interview that the appointment of Israeli Arab MK Ghaleb Majadle (Labor) to the position of science, culture and sport minister was "an axe poised over the trunk of Zionism and the Jewish state," Israel Radio reported. However, the committee called Tartman's statements "serious" and said it was necessary to differentiate between an expression that was "inappropriate" and one indicative of a "world view."
