Top Hamas official: Israel rejected offer for Schalit's release

Israel has rejected a Hamas offer for the group to free captured IDF soldier Gilad Schalit in exchange for lifting the Gaza blockade, senior Hamas official Ayman Taha claimed overnight Thursday. Taha further claimed that Israel had removed its demand for Hamas to make a written commitment to stop smuggling arms to the Strip, Israel Radio reported.
