Two month strike ends after Treasury commits to enter into negotiations.

Water Authority employees will return to work on Sunday after two months of striking, their labor union announced Saturday night. The decision to return came on the heels of a commitment by the Treasury to enter into negotiations.The labor union credited civil service histadrut head Ariel Yaakobi with brokering the deal with the Treasury. The employees have been protesting what they term an “imposed” organizational restructuring which significantly increased their workload when the Authority emerged out of the Water Commission in 2007.The employees expressed their severe dissatisfaction with Authority head Prof. Uri Shani for what they called his lack of interest in bringing the strike to a swift conclusion.Since the strike began, none of the water levels has been measured. The union said a notice about the level in Lake Kinneret would go out Sunday morning upon their return to work.
