Israeli takes world wakeboard championship

Lior Sofer wins men's division at 8th Cable Wakeboard World Championships held in Norway.

Israel's Lior Sofer and Sanne Meijer of Netherlands won the men's and women's 8th Cable Wakeboard World Championships held in Norway on Saturday.
The competition brought together around 200 riders from 25 countries at Norsjø Cable Park in Sauherad.
In the men's competition Sofer crashed on his first run, but on his second scored 94.33 points, ousting Korea's San Im from the top of the leaderboard. San Im scored 85 points and Germany's defending world champion Frédéric von Osten was third with 83.33.
In the women's event, Germany's European Champion Julia Rick led after the first run with 76 points, ahead of 17-year-old Meijer, but in the second the Dutchwoman improved to 81 points, while the German could only manage 79 points for silver. Another Dutchwoman, Maxine Sapulette, came third with 62 points.
