Vodka company to remove ad with Jewish stereotype

New-York based Wódka Vodka removes billboards with slogan "Christmas Quality, Hanukkah Pricing," after ADL complains.

Wódka Vodka, The company responsible for erecting a series of controversial, allegedly anti-Semitic billboards in New York, has officially apologized to anyone who took offense and has begun the process of removing them from public places.

The billboards advertised the company's discounted vodka with the slogan, “Christmas Quality, Hanukkah Pricing.” The advertisements also depicted an image of a dog wearing a Santa hat and a dog wearing a yarmulke with the text in large, capital letters.

“We welcome the response of Wódka vodka, and are glad that they were sensitive to our concerns and the concerns of the many New Yorkers who were offended by this advertisement,” said Ron Meier, Anti-Defamation League (ADL) New York Regional Director. “The company acted quickly and appropriately in recognizing that the billboard was offensive to many and should be removed.”

The controversial billboards promoting Wódka appeared in several locations in New York, including one at a well-traveled location along the West Side Highway. They quickly generated a barrage of calls and complaints to the ADL in recent days.
