Speaking of Jewish celebrity kids, Gwyneth Paltrow said this week that she plans to raise her children Apple and Moses as Jews. Never mind that, according to halacha, she's not Jewish, she has said that she wants to keep up the traditions she learned from her father, producer Bruce Paltrow.
While we're already on the topic of not-quite-Jewish people, Jennifer Love Hewitt has been cast in the indie film version of the Off-Broadway hit Jewtopia. The play involves a man who decides to pretend to be a doctor and go to a Jewish singles event and marry a Jewish woman, because he never wants to make his own decisions again. The Beastie Boys are back with a new song and a crazy new music video directed by Spike Jonze. The full video is over 11-minutes long, and has Mike D, MCA, and Ad-Rock starring in their own version of Team America, featuring rapper Santigold.
Still in music, Ziggy Marley performed in Israel on Tuesday and Thursday, but before that, he told an Israeli interviewer that he is "jealous of Jewish culture." The reggae star, son of the legendary Bob Marley, is married to an Israeli woman named Orly, with whom he has three children, and celebrates Jewish holidays. Marley said that his "Rastafari culture has a tight link to the Jewish culture. We have a strong connection from when I was a young boy and read the Bible." Marley also talked about his new comic book, Marijuanaman.
