Evita
The
Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice musical Evita, is currently being
performed in Israel for the very first time in English. This powerful
and award-winning musical tells the story of Eva Peron, an actress who
rose to the highest ranks in Argentina in the 1940s, and beautifully
explores the eternal themes of love, power, humanity and ambition.
The
show is a must-see for its moving music, witty lyrics and magnificent
song and dance. The show in Jerusalem will take place at the Gerard Behar Center in the town center.

Beauty and the Beast
The famous fairytale Beauty and the Beast will take place at the Jerusalem Theater
in English with Hebrew and Russian translations overhead. Brought to
the public by the Light Opera Group of the Negev (LOGON), the show is an
adaptation of the blockbuster animated feature film and the theatrical
version that ran for thirteen successful years on Broadway. With fifty
performers and a nine-member orchestra, the show promises wonderful
music, entertainment and meaning for young and old.

Aladdin and the Magic Lamp
Yet another renowned tale is coming to Jerusalem with an exciting rendition of the Oriental story Aladdin and the Magic Lamp
that takes place at Beit Shmuel overlooking the Old City. The show
offers fabulous dance, movement and choreography as well as a visual
spectacle with richly colorful decor and fantastic costume design.
The
story of Aladdin carries the important message that being rich does not
necessarily make one happy, and this version has a humorous undertone.
Though the play is in Hebrew, the message is apparent to everyone, and
audiences of all languages will appreciate this production.

Joan Miro's 'Spanish Dancer' exhibit
Spanish artist Joan Miro's works of art will be on display in an upcoming exhibition in the Focus Gallery at the Israel Museum.
Inspired by flamenco dance with its sensuous arm movements, percussive
steps and precise hand gestures, Miro sketched, drew, painted and
crafted collages in a variety of styles from 1921-1981.
Although
all of her works are clever and playful, the focus of the exhibition is
on the painting and the drawing Spanish Dancer. The exhibit includes
borrowed works from institutions around the world.

For
an electric and unique ethnic dance performance, don't miss Correria
