Clashes broke out between the IDF and Palestinian locals on Wednesday after hundreds of settlers allegedly broke into Joseph's Tomb in Nablus, the Palestinian Authority's official news agency WAFA cited local sources as saying.
According to the report, the IDF fired rubber-coated metal bullets and tear gas canisters at the residents. WAFA reported that several suffered from smoke inhalation. It added that two Palestinians, aged 16 and 21, were arrested.
Local residents told WAFA that some seven buses carrying hundreds of settlers "broke into the tomb" under IDF protection, provoking residents who clashed with the soldiers.
