PM calls on international diplomats to support Israeli efforts to defend itself, take "moral stand" against Hamas.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Tuesday visited Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon where IDF soldiers and Israeli civilians wounded in Operation Protective Edge were receiving medical treatment.

"All of Israel embraces you and sends you their well-wishes for a speedy recovery," Netanyahu told the wounded. "You were wounded in the most important task possible - defending our home."

The premier also met with dozens of foreign ambassadors who were also touring the hospital in the rocket-battered southern city, and called for their support of Israeli efforts to defend itself in the face of Hamas.

"I expect not only your support, I expect a moral stand against the terror organization that is attacking us," he stressed.

"Any democracy would do what Israel is doing to protect itself," Netanyahu told the ambassadors.

Before touring the hospital, the prime minister met at the Ashkelon Municipality with various regional mayors, lauding them for their efforts amid the 15-day-old conflict.
