Higher education institutions in South to receive NIS 6 million in government assistance

The ministries of Education and Finance in collaboration with the Council for Higher Education (CHE) announced the transfer of NIS 6 million in emergency assistance to higher education institutions in the South.

Education Minister Shai Piron along with Finance Minister Yair Lapid and Prof. Manuel Trachtenberg, chairman of the Planning and Budgetary Committee of the Council for Higher Education announced the transfer in a joint statement on Sunday.

The funds will be transferred to Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Sapir College, Ahva College, Ashqelon College and the Shamoon College of Engineering.

Piron instructed the CHE to act to ensure that no students’ studies would be harmed by the security situation. He added that he trusts that the institutions would help the students during this time and be considerate of their needs.

"We will continue to act to strengthen the citizens of the South and create a strong home front," added Lapid.
