WASHINGTON - A Virginia medical examiner has ruled the death of James Brady, the press secretary to US President Ronald Reagan, a homicide, a Washington police spokesman said on Friday.

"We are investigating this as a homicide," Officer Hugh Carew said. Brady was shot in the head during an assassination attempt against Reagan in 1981, and died on Monday in Alexandria, Virginia.
