1. PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES

2. HUMANIZING THE GAZA WAR
The Cameri Theater presents Pulitzer Prizewinning author Lawrence Wright in his one-man exploration of the conflict in Gaza, The Human Scale. Directed by The Public Theater’s artistic director Oskar Eustis, the play has gained critical acclaim in the US. In it Wright presents his worldview on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in recent years, and explains how the parties reached the present impasse, which he argues began with the abduction of IDF soldier Gilad Shalit. In English with Hebrew surtitles.

3. PIANO MAN
Rami Kleinstein is known as one of Israel’s greatest composers. He has often been compared to Elton John and Billy Joel. In 1995, he was selected as Israel Radio and Television’s Singer of the Year after his Tapuhim Utmarim (Apples and Dates) album reached triple platinum. Catch him as he performs many of his hits at the Shuni Amphitheater in Binyamina.

4. DOING DYLAN
To celebrate Bob Dylan’s 70th birthday as well as his upcoming concert in June, some of Israeli’s top musicians will perform both Hebrew and English versions of some of Dylan’s greatest hits. Artists include Yuval Banai, Yali Sobol, Noam Rotem, Shai Gabso and Tamar Eisenman.

6. FOR ARIK
The Israel Opera presents guitarist Mordi Ferber and pianist Anat Fort (pictured) who will perform jazz arrangements to the great songs of Arik Einstein. Einstein’s influence has been so profound that virtually all Israeli pop music can be traced back to musical projects in which he participated.
He managed to infuse the new styles of rock and pop with a deep Israeli flavor.
Einstein wrote many of the songs that he performed, among them “Ani Ve’ata” (Me and You), “Sa Le’at” (Drive Slowly), “Yoshev Al Hagader” (Sitting on the Fence) and “Ima Sheli” (My Mother).

7. KURT ELLING
With seven Grammy nominations already to his credit, vocalist Kurt Elling has attained elite status in the jazz world before reaching the age of 40. He’s been called “the most flamboyantly creative jazz singer to emerge in the last decade” by the San Francisco Chronicle, and in 1997 Playboy magazine named him Male Jazz Vocalist of the ’90s. Combining thought-provoking lyrics with clever arrangements, Elling has forged a potent body of work. Catch him as he performs two shows at the Tel Aviv and Herzliya Zappa Club.

10. WAKE UP WITH PARDES
