Katie Holmes, Odeya Rush, Taylor Swift attend premiere of "The Giver" in New York August 11.
Israel-born actress Odeya Rush was named Breakout Star of the Year at the 2014 Teen Choice Awards, held at the famous Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
The up and coming actress moved from her hometown of Haifa to the US with her family when she was nine years old. At 17, she has already starred in HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm and Disney’s The Odd Life of Timothy Green.
Odeya hit the stage at the prestigious auditorium to accept the award, a custom-made surfboard, bestowed on all Teen Choice winners. “I wish there was a teleprompter for these speeches,” she joked in a voice that traced no Hebrew accent, before going on to thank her fans and family for their support.
She referenced her much-anticipated film The Giver
, in which she stars opposite Academy Award winners Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges. “I am just so proud to be part of [the movie], it has really changed my life, and I’m so excited for you guys to see it on Friday,” she said, plugging the August 15th release date of the flick.
On Monday, Rush and her fellow cast members stepped out for the world premier of the film at Ziegfeld Theater in New York City. The thriller is based on Lois Lowry’s popular 1993 novel, which centers on a futuristic dystopian society that is shut off from the pains and pleasures of the ‘real world.’ Co-stars Katie Holmes and Taylor Swift also studded the red carpet.
Up next for Rush is playing the lead role in the film adaptation of the Goosebumps
