Haifa Chemicals is suing the Israel Electric Corporation for a massive NIS 57 million, saying that the electricity company provided it with "defective and negligent service" over many years, reports Yediot Haifa. The chemical company says it has suffered direct heavy losses as a result of the IEC's faults, including one particularly severe incident in 2002 in which the company's southern factory was completely shut down by a failure in the electricity supply.
According to the report, the company's lawsuit says the IEC has refused to take responsibility for the 2002 incident and has refused to hand over relevant documentation about it, with the IEC's documents for the period "disappearing in a mysterious way." No response was reported from the IEC.
