New medical center for Negev

Florida-based millionaire Dr. Erwin Moskowitz offered to donate the NIS 6 million to build the center as a sign of appreciation for the town's absorption of many families from Netzarim and Atzmona.

The foundation stone for an advanced medical center was laid in the western Negev regional council of Eshkol this week, after a US millionaire offered to donate the funding in recognition of the town's absorption of numerous families from Gush Katif after the disengagement of 2005, according to a council press release. Florida-based millionaire Dr. Erwin Moskowitz offered to donate the NIS 6 million to build the center as a sign of appreciation for the town's absorption of many families from Netzarim and Atzmona. The center, which will contain a Magen David Adom ambulance facility, nighttime medical services and a hydrotherapy center, will enable Eshkol residents to be treated locally rather than having to travel to Beersheba or Ashkelon as they do now. Building work is expected to take about eight months.
