Avraham Infeld, one of Israel’s most renowned educators and the president emeritus of Hillel, launched a new website called 5leggedtable.com last week, with the aim of making his approach to learning more widely available.

Infeld hosted a large group of influential educators at Mishkenot Sha’ananim, where his distinctive approach and sense of humor were on display. The event, arranged to coincide with the website launch, was aimed at highlighting the changes in his thinking, and probing what really matters for Israel and the Jewish People today. The proceedings, during which one of his colleagues lauded Infeld as “one of the best educators in the world,” were recorded and will be uploaded to the site.

Through his new website, Infeld will share his vision for the Jewish People that combines the power of the State of Israel, the philanthropy and commitment to Diaspora Judaism and the creativity of Israel, together serving the purpose of tikkun olam – Jews making the world a better place.

Infeld himself stated that “informal Jewish education is the opportunity to allow for an ever-growing number of opportunities for learning” and that “the purpose is not to build on a process at the beginning but to recognize that every moment can be a moment to learn.”

With the launch of his website, these opportunities for learning will be afforded to a larger audience than ever before.

Infeld’s professional accomplishments include founding Melitz – a center for Jewish Zionist education, serving as president of Hillel International and the Chais Family Foundation and taking on the role of roving ambassador for Limmud International.

Melitz and Makom, the two organizations responsible for coordinating this event, paid tribute to Infeld’s extraordinary style of teaching and motivated their enthusiasm to share his teachings, saying, “We have embarked on a website project that will enable his wisdom, insights and humor to be recorded and become the source of educational interaction for years to come.”
