Abbas calls for reporter's unconditional release

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday called for the unconditional release of BBC journalist Alan Johnston. Johnston was seized outside his Gaza City apartment on March 12, and has become the longest-held foreigner in Gaza. Palestinian officials have said they know where to find Johnston, but have held back on raiding the hideout at Britain's request, for fear of causing harm to the hostage. The PA government has instead tried to negotiate the captors.
