Overnight clashes between US troops and militiamen loyal to a radical Shi'ite cleric left three people killed and 17 wounded in an eastern Baghdad district, police and witnesses said Sunday. They said the fighting in the predominantly Shi'ite Fidhiliyah area on the city's outskirts broke out after a US military convoy came under attack near the local offices of Muqtada al-Sadr, the anti-American cleric whose Mahdi Army militia has recently stepped up attacks on American troops.
