Iraq asks coalition troops to stay another year

Iraq asked the UN Security Council Monday night to maintain the US-led coalition forces in the country for at least another year. Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim Jafari explained that he requires the international forces to remain in Iraq in order to allow Iraqi forces to establish stability in the country and to recruit more officers and soldiers into their ranks, Army Radio reported.
