WASHINGTON -- US President Barack Obama has been informed of reports that Muath al-Kasaesbeh, a Jordanian pilot captured by Islamic State, has been murdered by fire.
"I don't know the details of the confirmations," the president said, questioned by the press on the news at an event on healthcare. "But should, in fact, this video be authentic, its just one more indication of the viciousness and barbarity of this organization."
Jordan's government has confirmed Kasaesbeh's murder, according to local media. The White House says US intelligence agencies are working to confirm a video of his killing.
"Whatever ideology they're operating off of is bankrupt," Obama said. "This organization appears only interested in death and destruction."
