Both Israel and Lebanon are opposed to further disturbances along their shared border, the commander of the UNIFIL force said on Thursday according to AFP."No-one is interested in an escalation. All parties must strive to maintain the cessation of hostilities," Maj. Gen. The officers considered ways to speed up the process of marking the Blue Line border along the ground dividing the two countries."The process [of visibly marking the border] is an important endeavor which would reduce tension and the possibility of inadvertent violations," Asarta was quoted by AFP as saying.Israel vowed to respond harshly to further Lebanese aggression after a reserve battalion commander was killed in the beginning of August and another soldier was seriously wounded after fired upon by Lebanese forces while attempting to cut down a tree along the Israeli side of the border. Three Lebanese soldiers and one Lebanese journalist were also killed in the worst violence along the northern border since the 2006 Second Lebanon War.
