Alfei Menashe Council head Eliezer dies

Hisdai Eliezer, who was one of the founders of Alfei Menashe, was a vocal opponent of the 2005 disengagement from Gaza.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and opposition head Tzipi Livni (Kadima) on Monday mourned the passing of Alfei Menashe Council head Hisdai Eliezer at age 57 due to cancer.
“He was one of Alfei Menashe’s founders. It was his life’s work,” Netanyahu said.
The results of his dedicated and genuine effort are evident, said Netanyahu, who noted that Eliezer had been the child of Holocaust survivors and had endured a number of tragedies in his life, including the death of his daughter just before she was drafted into the army.
Eliezer, he said, was a vocal opponent of the 2005 Gaza pullout who acted according to his heart and his conscience.
During his life, Eliezer was a member of both the Likud and Kadima parties.
Livni said that he was a national leader and that his death was a great loss. He is survived by his wife and three children. His funeral will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday in Alfei Menashe.
