A man from the central region allegedly sexually harassed hundreds of children aged 10 to 13 on the Internet, police said following his arrest on Sunday.
The alleged offenses occurred over the past four years.
The suspect, a father of three and a senior hitech executive, pretended to be a young girl and entered social chat rooms, according to police.
He allegedly built up a network of false identities to link up with young girls, whom he then persuaded to send him nude photos of themselves.
Police were alerted to the online activities by a suspicious parent.
“This is someone who appeared to be an ordinary member of the public, but who was doing unspeakable things,” Insp. Arnon Hagig, a detective in the central police district, told Channel 2.
The suspected pedophile confessed to the acts during questioning.
The Kfar Saba Magistrate’s Court extended the suspect’s custody by eight days.
